740 players from 22 states converged on the Clock Tower for this national scholastic chess event. There were about 40 local players participated representing about 15 local schools.
Rockford area teams pulled in 7 national team trophies and 9 individual trophies. An Auburn high school student won first place in the high school division to be crowned national champion of the tournament.
